2011 Teams
The Area 1 Horse Trials were incorporated into Area 22 this year on May
21st at Brechin. Fortunately our Chairman decided we should go up on the
Friday and stable overnight, and as she was first on in the morning at 9am
this turned out to be an excellent idea! Unfortunately Ailsa had to
withdraw Alfie at the last minute as he was not quite sound so the novice
team of Doreen, Jenny Foster and Sarah de Leon made the journey north with
Amy following. Tango arrived minus a hind shoe but it was going to take
more than that to stop anyone competing. The stabling was temporary
stables on a windy hillside, hence not much sleep was had by the horses
not to mention riders.
Brechin was a lovely venue for the Horse Trials, plenty of space and the
xc was solid and a good undulating course. The novice team were all clear
xc so they finished on a high and the team finished 5th. Amy did a
brilliant job with both Hugo and Kasilia in the intermediate section, Hugo
was 1st and Kasilia 2nd individual - well done!

Horse Trials
Congratulations to the two Horse
Trials teams who competed recently at Beamish. Novice team was fourth and the
Intermediate team won. Amy Brown did exceptionally well as she was first,
second & third individual on the intermediate section too. Many thanks to
the helpers without whom the day would not have been possible. Click

Dressage at
Greenfields of Avondale 5th July
Congratulations to the Dressage competitors who braved wind and rain so
they could impress the judges for us. The only saving grace was that any
break in the torrential rain happened to coincide with their 8 tests so
whilst they were windswept they weren't wet - there again they always say
that the sun shines on the righteous! All in all the team did really well
to get 4th out of ten teams particularly bearing in mind not only the
dreadful weather, but that preparation was nil and also that 50% of the
team was made up of completely inexperienced 5 year olds.
Sue de Leon got the special rosette for
3rd best team test in her arena so she did a brilliant job all day for us.

Show Jumping St Boswells 20th June
Well done to all who competed at the Area 1 Show Jumping at St Boswells on
Sunday 20th June.
Amy Brown won the open as an individual and the intermediate team (Kirsty
Thompson, Katie Massie, Katherine Edridge and Amy Brown) were an excellent
second. There were two novice teams, South Lammermuir 1 consisted of Ellen
Renton, Leah Fleming, Jen Lange and Sarah de Leon and South Lammermuir 2 were
represented by Doreen Calder, Jenny Foster, Sue Keean and Liz Ward. Liz was
one of the double clears and went into the jump off. South Lammermuir 2
finished sixth. It was a lovely day especially for us supporters in our deck
chairs in the sun!
Lots of photos on the Gallery page - thank you Robin.
